GULF OF OROSEI

Sea and mountains: in the central-eastern part of Sardinia, the vast and unspoilt landscape is a must-see if you are visiting the island. Inaccessible peaks, green pastures, plateaus, canyons, forests, cliffs overlooking crystal clear waters, caves and beaches. It is one of the most spectacular places in Sardinia, which looks even more beautiful from the sea.

CALA LUNA

A symbol of eastern Sardinia, a natural monument of extraordinary charm, a beach of wild and unspoiled beauty on the border between Barbagia and Ogliastra. One of the wonders of the Gulf of Orosei and the entire Mediterranean. Cala Luna, or the bay of the moon, is one of the most beautiful places of the Orosei’s Gulf. Go on a cruise with us and see why.

Don Vincenzo is a comfortable motorboat that departs every day from the port of Cala Gonone for a beautiful excursion to Cala Luna and the Bue Marino Caves (optional visit), two of the most beautiful pearls of the Gulf of Orosei. You can choose to stop at Cala Luna for the whole day, returning to Cala Gonone every hour, or share the stop at Cala Luna with a visit to the Bue Marino cave.

Cala Luna is one of the most famous beaches in Sardinia. In the 1970s, it was chosen as the main set of the famous film written and directed by Lina Wertmüller, ‘Swept Away by an Unusual Destiny in the Blue Sea of August’.

The Bue Marino’s cave is part of a karst system that extends for over 70 km inland; Its name derives from the nickname with which the shepherds were used to call the monk seal, “Su Oe ‘e Mare”, which used the cave for weaning their pups.

The cave can be visited in the company of expert guides who will accompany you on a path of about 800 meters, artificially lit and crossed by a wide wooden walkway.

Around 12.30 p.m. we continue with the mini-cruise to discover the most beautiful beaches of the Gulf.

An audio guide (English/Italian) will show you in detail the wonders of the Gulf of Orosei that you will see during the navigation.

Leaving Cala Luna we will head towards Cala Mariolu, the pearl of the Gulf of Orosei where our guests can enjoy a stop of about two hours.

During the journey, our crew will offer, included in the price, to our guests a cool aperitif to brighten up your stay on board.

Before the beach’s stop it will be possible to take the umbrella (included in the ticket price)

The next stop will be at Cala Gabbiani. Its white seabed is composed of a limestone grit constantly worked by the sea. We will then reach Cala Goloritzè, a beach with a unique scenery due to the imposing Aguglia and the natural arch with the same name.

This little corner of paradise is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so it is only allowed to reach it on foot or approach it by sea.

The motorboat Don Vincenzo accommodates up to 220 passengers; On board you can enjoy the bar service where you can buy cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks, ice cream, coffee. The motorboat is equipped with toilets.

IMPORTANT!

Tickets to the BUE MARINO’s cave  must be purchased separately! This can be done directly at the port of Cala Gonone at the ticket office of “Comune di Dorgali – Biglietteria Grotta Bue Marino” or on the Ejnoy Dorgali website.
