BARBAGIA - LAND OF ANCESTORS

Barbagia is one of the most authentic and wild regions of Sardinia, located in the mountainous part of the island. It is famous for its picturesque landscapes, rich history and strongly rooted pastoral traditions. Among his biggest attractions are Lanaitho Valley and Su Gologone, which is the most important karst source in Sardinia, from which crystal clear water flows out.

This region also hides numerous archaeological sites related to the Nuragian civilization, including the village Sedda Sos Carros and a cave Corbedduwhere one of the oldest traces of human presence on the island of – from the Upper Paleolithic period was discovered.

Barbagia is also a land of shepherds whose traditions date back thousands of years. You can try it here local specialtiessuch as pecorino cheese, dried ricotta, baked meat (including the famous „piglet ”) and Cannonau winewhich, according to research, contributes to the longevity of the inhabitants of Sardinia.

 

DINNER WITH PASTERS

Our trip is a unique journey deep into Sardinia, showing the wild beauty of the Barbagia region. We start in the village Olienawhere we change to off-road vehiclesto reach the most beautiful and mysterious places of this region.

We will visit during the trip source of Su Gologone, Lanaitho Valley with its unique flora, archaeological sites and caves, and village of Sedda Sos Carroswhere the unique holy source is located. Then we will reach Sa Ohe caveand the culmination of the day will be traditional Sardinian dinner in shepherd’s shepherds’ huts.

After the culinary feast we will return to Olienyand from there by bus to the starting point.

TRIP PLAN:

1. Departure from Oliena – drive to Oliena and change to off-road vehicles.

2. Source Su Gologone – short stop at the most important karst source of Sardinia.

3. Lanaitho Valley – drive through a valley full of endemic vegetation and wild fauna, including mouflons, wild boars and birds of prey.

4. Corbeddu Cave – visiting the cave, where traces of humanity from thousands of years ago were discovered.

5. Seddah Village Carros – visit to the Nuragian settlement with a unique holy source.

6. Sa Ohe Cave – walk to the cave, from which an underground river flows during the downpour, preceded by a characteristic, warning sound.

7. Traditional Sardinian dinner in shepherd’s shepherds’ huts – tasting of local specialties, including pecorino cheese, baked meats and Cannonau wine.

8. Return to Oliena – jeep ride to Oliena, then return by bus to the starting point.
